The Student Association of the Left
VSF is a socialist, feminist and anti-racist party that fights for a university free from discrimination. We want the student union to work to seriously improve students' economic and social situation so that the University becomes a place for all students regardless of background. Higher education should not be a class issue, but an opportunity for everyone. In this year's Student Union Election, we focus on three issues for a safe education and an even safer future: Equal education, financial security, and social security.
ELECTION ISSUES
Equal education
Everyone deserves fair conditions in their education. Regardless of place of residence, choice of campus or individual needs. VSF will work to improve transport options to Albano and between different campuses. We will also strive for a wider and cheaper food selection on campus, where at least half of the food sold is plant-based. A further goal is to strengthen access to educational support for all students. We will also work to integrate a broader sustainability perspective in education and courses.
Financial security
Studies are full-time work, and students should not be forced into financial vulnerability. No student should have to worry about whether they have enough money for rent, food on the table or to get hold of course literature. Therefore, VSF wants more student housing with reasonable rents to be established and for CSN's student allowance to be increased. We also see it as important that no exams are held on holidays, as there are many students who work alongside their studies to be able to afford to live. VSF advocates student pay as a long-term goal. Finally, we will work actively to make the course literature free of charge and ensure that it is always available digitally.
Social Security
All students should feel safe and good at the university. VSF will improve access to student health and support LGBTQI students. Gender-neutral toilets would increase security for many students, as well as greater opportunity for a name change at Athena. This year VSF will focus on international solidarity. We must represent the University's students and be a driving force for everyone to feel safe, seen and represented. We oppose cooperation with universities that practice discrimination or abuse against any group of people and demand a university that stands up for the equality of all people regardless of where they are in the world.
