Summary of the latest Representative Assembly meeting!
The latest Representative Assembly meeting took place Thursday, February 20. These meetings are open to the public and offer you, as a student, the chance to stay informed about what’s happening at SUS!
Highlights from the meeting:
Report from the Presidium:
The presidium presented their usual report, going over the progress made on the prioritized advocacy issues and recent achievements.
An update was also provided on what has happened within SUS's three areas of operation since the last meeting.
Thank you to “Talman” (Speaker of the Representative Assembly) Elis Wibacke:
Elis Wibacke led his final Representative Assembly meeting after an honorable term as the Speaker (Talman) over the past two operational years. A big thanks for his dedicated work — his leadership will be deeply missed!
The role of Speaker is now open for applications! If you're interested, this is an exciting role in leading the Representative Assembly meetings.
New appointments to the board and nominating committee:
The previously vacant position in the SUS Board has now been filled — Felix Almay (SP) will replace Oliviae Odenskiöld, who has taken on the role of General for SNNC.
Anna Agervig Kristiansson has joined the nominating committee, replacing Rakel Friberg. The committee is now fully staffed.
Debate on students' right to protest (Interpellation debate):
The Representative Assembly discussed students' right to protest and express dissent on campus, especially considering the increased police presence.
In its response, the Board emphasized that students' rights to exercise their freedoms on campus are fundamental for influencing the university. SUS is committed to protecting these rights, alongside the right to education and an open campus.
The board also encouraged reporting any cases of police misconduct.
The discussion ended with the Board confirming that they will monitor the situation and maintain an ongoing dialogue with the university.
Thank you to everyone who participated—we look forward to seeing you at the next Representative Assembly meeting!
