Student Safety Calendar – part 3🩷

Safety and well-being can only be built together. At SUS we always strive to, together with you, create conditions for a great study time characterized by community.

Do you feel lonely sometimes?

Loneliness is something that at times appears in many people's everyday lives, not least when major changes and changes in social circles take place. Loneliness can make you feel insecure, abandoned and depressed. At Folkhälsomyndigheten, it appears that loneliness and isolation are most common among young adults and seniors in Sweden.

Among young adults, there remains a taboo around expressing discomfort with loneliness as one feels a personal responsibility to be socially 'successful'. At the same time, many young adults share a sense of isolation that passes unnoticed in our everyday lives. If you, as a student, experience problems with loneliness, remember that you are far from alone and that by taking small steps yourself, you often help others to take steps forward.

Tip! Try to be inquisitive during classes and raise your hand! You are never alone in not understanding and it often helps teachers in their pedagogy by pointing out ambiguities.

Find new friends with SUS!

SUS want to counteract the negative consequences of loneliness as much as possible by creating environments and conditions for meeting other students outside of teaching hours, also through long-term work for more and better study places on campus. We also want to contribute to all students at SU feeling that they belong here and can be part of the university's social and intellectual world.

Kick-offs with SUS
At the start of the semester SUS, together with SUS KM, organizes fun and social activities such as sittings, parties, speedfriendings, for new students who want to find new friends after the lectures.

KÃ¥rpuben
The Student Union Pub (KÃ¥rpuben) is open every Tuesday between 5-10 PM! There you can drop your studies and enjoy food and drinks at student-friendly prices. Sometimes music quizzes, karaoke's and movie screenings are also organized in the pub!

Associations and councils
In addition to social activities and other things you can find in our activity calendar, you can also get involved to participate in the development of your education in a student or PhD council or join or start your own association on campus based on an interest you have or are passionate about.

Student vacancies at SUS
Do you want to make new friends and earn money at the same time? We offer exciting vacancies that enrich your experience and your professional development. For example, you can become part of the pub team in KÃ¥rpuben, work with SUS's social media, or get an assignment connected to the Student Union Election. Some of the assignments are paid and knowledge of Swedish may be required!

Sow and grow
Student Health Services at SU is launching a gardening group for health and stress relief in the spring of 2025. It's an opportunity to meet new people, grow flowers and vegetables, and at the same time unwind, be present in the moment and get new energy.

If your well-being is affected by loneliness

As a student you can contact Student Health Services but also take part in Folkhälsomyndighetens expanding work against loneliness, including at dinpsykiskahälsa.se. There you can get tips yourself but also in supporting someone else.

Together we work to make SU a place where everyone feels welcome!
