National study on sexual harassment and gender-based violence

Statistics Sweden (SCB) sent out a national survey this week with the purpose of studying the prevalence of sexual harassment and gender-based violence in academia.

The questionnaire has been sent out to 125,000 randomly selected students, doctoral students and staff. In the spring of 2022, the Research and Collaboration Program will then publish an overall sector level report. Stockholm University will analyze the results, and then identify activities to rectify potential issues.

Perhaps you have received the survey? SUS views the survey as a great opportunity to share one’s experiences, for those who get the chance to do so.

Sexual harassment is a great issue within the academia. We have continuously received information from reports as well as stories about how both students and employees are subjected to this. Therefore, we think it is very important that this survey is executed. We would like all students to be as well and healthy as possible, which is hindered by sexual harassment and various forms of gender-based violence within the academia, says Sofia Holmdahl, President of Stockholm University Student Union.
