Concerns over police presence on campus at Stockholm University

University employees at Stockholm University are concerned that police are increasingly intervening in peaceful student protests. They are calling on the university to stand up for students' rights to express themselves and demonstrate without fear.

An open letter has now been submitted by SU employees to the President of SU and the university board, calling on them to defend students' and employees' constitutionally protected rights to demonstrate and to organize politically without fear of reprisals. The open letter currently has 334 signatures.

The employees are demanding that the university should:

  • Stop calling in the police during peaceful protests.

  • Ensure that no one is punished for their involvement.

  • Publicly defend the right to demonstrate without consequences.
